BEFORE YOU START

When download apple files, make sure that the file type is set to "All Files" and
that the file is only saved and not opened.

What you need:

- A valid Macintosh Plus ROM file ( vMac.ROM )
- Mini vMac 2.8.2
- SSW_6.0.8-1.4MB_Disk1of2.sea.bin
- SSW_6.0.8-1.4MB_Disk2of2.sea.bin
- Dummy file creator
- Aladdin Expander 5.0 for Windows

Step 1 - Extracting the system install disks

Open Aladdin Expander and drag both system disk archives into the window that says "Drag and drop archives and encoded files here".
You will now have several files, the important ones are "System Startup" and "System Additions". You may delete the two archives aswell as
any other files created by the extraction process.

Step 2 - Create the hard disk image

Open Dummy File Creator ("dummy.exe"), select the target size you want between 5mb and 200mb.
Click the "Set Path" button to name the file "mac_hd.img" then press the "Create" button. You will now have an empty disk image called "mac_hd.img"

Step 3 - Initializing the hard disk image

Open mini vmac (PC Version), go to the file menu and select "Open disk image".
Now, browse to where you extracted the system disks and set "Files of type" to "All files".
You can now open the disk called "System Startup", once you do the emulated mac will boot up and wait on the desktop.

Before doing anything else, go back to the file menu and select "Open disk image again", except this time you'll open "mac_hd.img".
A warning will now appear on the Mac screen telling you that the disk is not valid and gives the option to initialize it, press "Initialize" here.

The next popup box will ask to confirm erasing the disk, press the "Erase" button.
Yet another popup box will come up and ask for the title of the disk, it's upto you what you want to put here.

If all went well, you will have another disk on your Macintosh desktop. Now it is time to install the system software.

Step 4 - Installing the system software

Open up the "System Startup" disk that is sitting on your Macintosh desktop. Now double click the installer application to launch it.
Press OK for the first screen that shows up. The default options are fine for now, if you want you can customize the installation but that won't be covered here.

When you press the "Install" button, the installation process will begin and eventually stop and ask for the "System Additions" disk.
Go back to the file menu and open the "System Additions" disk you extracted earlier.
The installer will run for a bit then ask for the "System Startup" disk again, use the file menu again to re-insert the system startup disk.

Congradulations, you have installed System 6.0.8!
Now press the "Quit" button on the popup box, go upto the "Special" menu in the Mac screen and select "Shutdown".

The end

You may now use the disk you just made in the Nintendo DS port of Mini vMac.
