The zip file linked to below contains:
Mini vMac application file (minivmac.nds)
50MB Disk image with System 6.0.8 installed and a few utilities and games (mac_hd.img)
Readme.txt (something which you must read first)
Ofcourse you will need to supply your own Macintosh Plus rom inorder for this to do anything, and must have a device supported by chishm’s FAT library.

The archive is around 8mb, all files ( including the rom ) must go in the root of your memory device.

It may help me support 4mb emulation aswell as increase compatibility of all homebrew I develop.

A few people who have had problems getting the emulator to work ( ie. garbage on top screen ) have fixed the problem by ensuring that the rom filename was “vMac.ROM”.
I don’t know why it’s breaking if the name is not exactly “vMac.ROM” but for now it’s best you make sure it’s spelled correctly and with the proper capitalization.

I have removed the included system disk image from the archive due to possible legal issues with Apple.
What I recommend is follow some guides on installing System 6.0.8 onto a disk image but use the PC/MAC version for that step.
Only use the disk image under the DS version once you have the system installed and working correctly under either the PC or MAC version.
Keep in mind that the disk image still must be called mac_hd.img, but can be any size
as long as there is enough space to hold the system software.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but it’s just one of things that comes up every now and then that you have no control over.
I also know many of you with an m3 sd or supercard sd have not been able to get this emulator to work.
Once I recieve my Supercard CF I will begin working on romfs support so that even if the disk image can only be 30mb or so and read only, you’ll atleast have something that works until I can locate the source of this weird bug.
Don’t worry about saving since I’ll setup SRAM as a 64kb disk which will always be inserted and writable.

I love it!!!! It runs at an nice speed. it controls nice. There is one thing i would like to see suport for multiple disk images. Becouse my os7.5 image is only 5 or so MB and my files are on another disk image. Also a keybord were we could see if the camand key is presed or not. Any way i am vary happy with what it can do.

I’ll mail you my old CF to GBA adapter. It has a problem that can be fixed. Just a few loose connectors.

Really nice! I have an idea for reducing screen size: why not giving an option to put the screen in a grayscale mode, reducing the size to 1/2 per direction?
It should be quite easy to implement, fast, and the detail you lose is partially recovered by the grayscale.
Something like reducing a 4 bw pixel square to a 5 gray level pixel should still give a readable screen…

Would this work on any DS emulators? It seems to crash when I run it on Dualis after it finds the startup disk.

You can dump it from a real mac plus using a utility called “CopyRom”.

No unfortunately, though dualis is the only one that even renders the screen properly.
As a side note:
I ordered a supercard cf today aswell as added the support code needed for a system disk in ROM and a writable disk in SRAM.
Limited testing has shown both are working fine.

I’m sorry but the Macintosh Plus ROM is copyrighted, you need to obtain one from a working mac plus.
However, _if_ you do own a mac plus but it is not working or you only own the rom chip istself you may download vMac.rom from a few sites.

I Tried It on my M3 DS Simply. The Bottom Screen was the only screen that worked. The Top Screen is Black. Can you help me. I REALLY want to use this on my M3 DS Simply. Do I need a GBA card to use this, or can I just use the Slot-1 card by itself? PLease HELP.

There is something familiar about that error message and I think I know why.
None of the public releases support using ram in the GBA slot.
You should not have that build, someone must have leaked it when they said they would only test it.
I knew I never should trust the internet, lol…

hi, ive written an osx documentation - i dont have your email, so ill just post it as a comment. i may have got something wrong, if so please point it out.
making a system disk in OSX

you will need
1. an expander (i personally recommend downloading The Unarchiver-http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22774- as it has the benefit of opening RARs) and disk utility, both of which are built in to osx.
2. these files: i) vMac.ROM -you must own a macintosh plus for this
ii) Mini vmac OSX edition: http://minivmac.sourceforge.net/
iii) SSW_6.0.8-1.4MB_Disk1of2.sea.bin*
iv) SSW_6.0.8-1.4MB_Disk2of2.sea.bin*
v) minivmac ds -http://lazyone.drunkencoders.com/wordpress/
*can be found at http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html#system
n.b. these can be hard to find , but just scroll a bit until you get to it.
3. any applications/games you wish to include

4. some sort of external ram for ds - opera ram pack or any Slot-2 solution with built in ram
eg Supercard or M3

Creating it
__________________________________________________
Step 1
————–
open disk utility and click New Image. disk size should be 40-200mb and should be a read/write disk image. name it mac_hd
Step 2
————–
place minivmac(OSX), vmac.ROM, mac_hd and the two SSW… files in a new folder. this is important as vMac.ROM needs to be in the same folder to allow minivmac to work
extract the two SSW… files. you should now have two disk images: System Startup and System Additions.
Step 3

open minivmac(OSX). it should beep and show a flashing floppy disk. drag the disk image System Startup into the minivmac window. it should now boot. now drag mac_hd into the window as well- it will ask to format the disk, confirm and rename it mac_hd.
Step 4

in minivmac open system startup and double click Installer. click install to install System 6 on mac_hd. about halfway though, it will ask you to insert System Additions. drag and drop the disk image System Additions into minivmac. it will then ask you to insert system startup- drag and drop it as before. if all is well, it will say the installation was successful. now click quit.
you have finished making your system disk.
(Step 5)

if you wish to add applications, just open the disk image in osx and drag and drop any files you want onto the disk. if the file is a disk image, open mac_hd in minivmac, drag the disk into the window and follow the install process.

rename mac_hd to disk0.dsk (in OSX) and place in the root of your DLDI compatible device along with vMac.ROM and minivmac.nds. if your card is not auto dldi patching (eg if is not an R4DS or M3 Simply ) remember to patch it using DLDI Drop which can be found at:
