Wolf3d is not dead…

I have taken a break from mini vmac to do more work on the wolf3d port.
Here are some things you may see in the next release:

- Sound (Digital only, no synthesized sound yet)

- Music (Looking possible, either by directly emulating the adlib sound hardware or by conversion)

- Builds for all wolf3d versions (wolf shareware/registered, spear shareware/registered)

- Saving/Loading (though not on flashcarts at first, I still have to think about that)

I will also look into building a control panel incase someone needs to adjust the gamma correction or remap their keys.

Don’t expect a fancy status bar though, it’s still text unfortunately but to balance that out I may add cheats that can be triggered.

Text status is good enough for me ;)

Who needs fancy status bar anyway, unless it’s a typo and you meant Stratus ;)

    Nah, I mean status :)
I just cannot create the graphics for it.

However, I did just verify that saving and loading are both working very well and will definately be in the next release.

I’m just waiting on music and the rest of the builds need to be checked to make sure they’re working properly.

Aw, I was looking forward with a version with Trish Stratus on the 2nd screen ;)

I’m going to be working on this more in the next few days.
Music should be possible if you pre-convert it into a format that the arm7 can decode, I will release tools for extraction and conversion.

From working with my PSP port of wolf3d, two things are going to make their way back to the NDS port.
Those will be mod support and remappable keys.

I have also decided to put the timer back so that the maximum framerate will be 35fps.
It just doesn’t play properly at 70 so I guess that’s why it was set to 35 in the first place.
